Film Producing 101 – The 7 Steps

Last week I shared a breakdown of  “The 7 Steps” I follow for theatre production.  This week here is a brief overview of “The 7 Steps” I use for Film Production.  For more information about “The 7 Steps” check out our Producing 101 Intensive .

1 – SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT – Has your script been flushed out?  Have you read it with a group of actors?  Have the actors read it for an audience?  Did you receive feedback?

2 – FUNDRAISING/BUDGET – How much will it take to produce the project?  It is a short? Feature? New Media?  Where will the funding come from?  Do you expect to recoup any finances? How? What are your goals for the project (this answer might make you think about the budget differently, especially if you’re not expecting to make any money back)?
